The Sacramento Traditional Jazz community tragically lost Dillon Weatherly, a young trumpet player, on July 23rd, 2016. Dillon was 14, and is the son of Felicia and Jeff Weatherly. Felicia is a music teacher at River City High School, and the director of the youth jazz band the Syncopating Sea Monkeys.
A scholarship that honors his memory and music has been set up and is presented to a deserving trumpet player at the annual Traditional Jazz Youth Band Festival.
